How To: Associate A FTP site with a Domain Name. Step 1. You will need to login to your FTP Controlpanel, then Click on "Update Contact Info". Enter the Domain alias that you are going to use for the server in the Text Field for "FTP Alias", such as "files.yourdomainname.com" or "ftp.yourdomainname.com", and Then click on the "Update" button. This will make sure that all instructions that you send out will contain the correct host information. Step 2. You now need to contact the DNS provider for your Domain and have them create a DNS entry for you. The entry should look something like this: files.yourdomainname.com CNAME (server).cyberlynk.net (CNAME ALIAS) (server) refers to the server that you are on, such as files165.cyberlynk.net.
